I’m the kind of guy that listens to the same music in an infinite loop for years to come. Even if I can’t stand the music anymore, I continue listening to it because I’m too lazy to go to the local radio station website or Pandora and just find new music. For example, I’ve been listening to Colbie Caillat’s first two albums for about 6 months now.

Occasionally, I do branch out and find some music I like. I discovered Colbie because my wife had a song on her PC. She generally has good taste in music and I enjoy what she listens to, so she’s a good source for inspiration.

Sometimes I get lucky and find music on the weirdest places. Years ago, Angela bought me my first MP3 player to take on a mission trip to Ecuador. It was a brick of a player, the Mach Speed Trio. It included a song by David Hayes, Beautiful Girl. Lovely song. Sadly, he stopped making music. Listened to him non-stop while I was in Japan. I’ll forever associate his songs with my time there. David Hayes

I was browsing YouTube the other day. The auto play feature annoys me. I forgot to turn it off while listening to penny whistles and it auto played to a singer named Anna Robinson from South Dakota. Just a small time musician with big dreams. Her music is folky, but modern. It’s indie. It’s new. It’s not the greatest, but I do enjoy it and that’s all that matters.

Check her out. Anna Robinson

Also, what music are you listening to nowadays? How do you find it? And what songs do you associate with specific times in your life?

A song can sometimes be just as good as a photograph.
