Happiness is an emotion which God created us to express freely. Happiness is a byproduct of love and many other emotions.

  • Happiness is being in love.
  • Happiness is being surrounded by family and friends. (sometimes 😉 ).
  • Happiness is laughing.
  • Happiness is sipping coffee and relaxing.

Of course, there are many other examples unique to each person. But happiness is something  every single one of use desire in our daily lives. It is what we were created to express and feel. Happiness is contagious and it can help warm a cold heart.

It’s hard to be happy at times. The stresses of life can keep us from being happy. Things like stressful jobs, bills/debts, medical situations, tragedy, etc. A big thing I believe many people suffer from is loneliness, especially as adults. It can be difficult to make friends due to lack of time or opportunity. I can be an introvert, so sometimes it’s hard for me to reach out and ask others to hang out because of fear of rejection.

Still, it is important to understand that happiness first begins within our own heart. “Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.” Luke 6:45.  If we are sad, we need to find out why we are sad. Are we longing for companionship? Are we unsatisfied with our jobs? Or are we simply being dramatic and unappreciative of what we already have? If we know what is keeping us from being happy, talk about it with someone or God and see if maybe you can find a solution. Sometimes, even something as simple as waking up early and going for a walk can do wonders.

Here’s to your happiness!
